Spin and Sasha Find a New Home

Little Spin and Sasha both came to us by way of the good graces of Anna Payne at California Chinese Shar Pei Rescue. Thanks to her kindness and generosity, they were both saved from the fate of so many other innocent and abandoned dogs and cats.

Sasha, our Shar Pei, is a sweet, gentle girl and loves everyone. We think she has some Lab in her as her tail is too long and her coat is too thick and glossy for a typical Shar Pei. She does have a Pei head, though.

Sasha was hit by a car and then abandoned with a broken leg at the veterinarian's by her owner. Her fate would have been sealed if Anna had not volunteered to help get her patched up. Now she's found a new home with us. She still has a few scars but her leg healed nicely and now she's running every day.

Spin, a Chihuahua, was left by the roadside with his buddy, Marty, where they were found days later waiting for their master's return. No, he's not a Shar Pei, but Marty was, so Spin came along for the ride. We would have kept Marty too, but he didn't like our cats. Hard when you have to choose between old friends and new. Marty is a wonderful dog and someone will be lucky to have him.

Spin has a wonderful personality and is the smartest of our three dogs. He's also the most mischevious, and will run off with almost anything left lying around within reach. He is also happy to curl up in your lap and beg forgiveness. Who can resist?

Spin loves Ethel, our Pug. Ethel loves Spin. Along with us, Ethel was mourning the loss of her playmate Gus, our first Shar Pei, who died shortly after Christmas, 2001, from complications brought on by Familial Shar Pei Fever (FSF). Spin showed up to mend her broken heart.

< Here is Ethel, doing her best to keep up with the rest of "The Pack" during a morning romp in the woods.

You can read more about Gus, and how we became Webmasters of California Shar Pei Rescue.

Get Involved!

You can help. Each year, thousands of unlucky dogs and cats are left homeless or abandoned by their owners and put to death. They demand nothing. All they ask is for someone to love them and care for them. In return, they will give you their lifelong devotion and trust.

The efforts of California Chinese Shar Pei Rescue are made possible only by the support and generosity of caring individuals like you. If you can't help adopt a new friend yourself, then donate to help others who can:
